Cambridge AHRC Doctoral Training Partnership - Student Profiles

Congratulations to David Winters, who impressed the selection committee with his proposal to run a lecture and workshop with Dr Eric Jarosinski, founding editor of the Twitter phenomenon @NeinQuarterly, to be held on Thursday 12 March 2015, 6pm-7pm.

We are pleased to announce the outcome of the Cambridge AHRC DTP Social Media Knowledge Exchange funding competition.

Congratulations to David Winters, who impressed the selection committee with his proposal to run a lecture and workshop with Dr Eric Jarosinski, founding editor of the Twitter phenomenon @NeinQuarterly.

That lecture and workshop, entitled ‘Old Ships in New Bottles: How to Connect With a Non-Academic Audience Using Social Media. And Why’, struck the committee as particularly relevant to students funded through the Cambridge AHRC DTP; it will allow you to engage with a former Arts and Humanities academic who has found a particularly successful way to use his research acumen to inform both the content and form of his social media interventions. The project seemed especially intriguing because Twitter is not necessarily the social media outlet most commonly associated with stylish communication, and among other matters, the lecture and workshop will investigate ways in which Twitter can be used to disseminate broadly academic ideas to a wider public in a sophisticated manner.

I would also like to take this opportunity to encourage you to sign up now for a place at the lecture and workshop, since they will take place a week on Thursday.

Brief details are as follows:

Old Ships in New Bottles: Eric Jarosinski (@Neinquarterly) on social media, to be held in the Nihon Room at Pembroke College, on Thursday 12 March 2015, 6pm-7pm.
